These terms apply when you use Scanylo (scanylo.com). Scanylo is run by {owner_name}, a sole proprietorship registered in Norway (organisation number {org_number}), {address}. Contact: [email protected].

If you do not agree, please do not use Scanylo.

1. What Scanylo does

Scanylo is a passive, external website check. You give us a web address. We read what that site publicly shows to any visitor and give you a report of what we found, what is only possible, and what we could not verify. You can also buy a fix plan with step-by-step instructions, and subscribe to alerts about major vulnerabilities.

2. Not a penetration test

Scanylo is not a penetration test, a security audit or a certification. It cannot see inside your site, and it does not test logins, forms or code. A good score does not mean your site is secure. A poor score does not mean your site has been hacked. Results marked Potential or Unknown need to be confirmed by someone who can look at your server.

3. Who may use it, and consent

You may only check a website that you own or are authorised to check. Before every check you confirm this. We store that confirmation with the time, your IP address, the address you entered and your browser details, so that we can show who asked if a site owner complains. Please read our Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these terms.

We refuse some sites (for example government, military, banking and payment sites and domains on our do-not-scan list), and we limit how many checks you can run.

4. Free check, fix plan and alerts

Free check. The check and report are free and need no account. We may change or limit the free service.

Fix plan. The fix plan costs USD 19 as a one-off payment through Stripe. It is digital content, delivered to your report page and by email. You ask for immediate delivery at checkout, and you then lose the 14-day right of withdrawal if you are a consumer, as explained in our notice on the right of withdrawal. Taxes, where they apply, are shown at checkout. If we cannot deliver the plan, we will refund you. If our systems are delayed, we will deliver within 24 hours.

Wave alerts. Alerts are free. You subscribe with your email address and confirm it. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every alert.

Fix it for me. Any help beyond the fix plan is quoted by hand and agreed in writing before work starts.

5. AI-written text

We write the summary and plain-language explanations with the help of AI, from the list of findings our software produces. The AI does not find problems, change how serious a finding is or decide whether it is Confirmed, Potential or Unknown. It can still word something badly or make a mistake. Treat the findings list as the record, and check anything important with a qualified person.

6. No guarantee

We work to make Scanylo accurate, but we cannot promise that it finds every problem, that it finds only real problems, or that it is always available. Software versions, hosting and firewalls can make a result wrong or incomplete, which is why we show Potential and Unknown. You are responsible for deciding what to do with a report and for any changes you make to your site. Always keep backups before changing settings.

7. Agencies and others who check for clients

If you check a site for someone else, for example as an agency or hosting company, you confirm that you have a contract or other permission that allows an external check of that site. You are responsible for that claim and for any claim from the site owner that is caused by a check you were not allowed to order.

8. Your content and our content

We do not claim ownership of your website or your data. You may keep, share and forward your report. Our software, text and design belong to us, and you may not copy them to build a competing service.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, and your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.

Subject to that, our liability to you for any claim related to Scanylo is limited to direct losses, and to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event (or USD 100 if you paid nothing). We are not liable for indirect losses, lost profit or lost data, or for decisions you take based on a report.

If you are a business, you also agree to cover our costs if a third party makes a claim against us because you checked a site you were not authorised to check.

10. Stopping and changes

You can stop using Scanylo at any time. We may refuse or end service to anyone who breaks these terms or the acceptable use policy, or to protect a site or our systems. We may change these terms. We will post the new version here and, for material changes, tell subscribers by email. The change applies from the effective date shown.

11. Privacy

How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

12. Law and disputes

Norwegian law applies. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. We try to solve problems by talking first, so please write to [email protected]. Disputes that we cannot solve are decided by the Norwegian courts unless mandatory law gives you another venue.
